Together with our owner municipalities and other partners Vestforbrænding works to support the waste hierarchy principles and to increase residents’ knowledge about waste and the environment.
We therefore spend many resources for public information and development of facilities and materials that teachers can use in their classes.
For example, in 2008 we participated in the launch of two websites: www.affald.dk, a website for teaching children in elementary school, and www.affaldetsvej.dk presenting nine films about the way waste separated and delivered for recycling turns into new products.
Each year we receive more than 400 groups of pupils and others who are shown around the facility in Glostrup and participate in courses about the interplay between consumption, waste, recycling, and environment.
In addition, several owner municipalities offer visits at the local recycling centres, and Vestforbrænding is now developing educational material and overhauling our premises, offering even better conditions for visitors in the future.
In addition, we regularly conduct information campaigns directed at different target groups concerning everything from district heating and saving tips over scavenging to separation of paper for recycling.
