Vestforbrænding and our owner municipalities have much attention to our solutions being up-to-date and adapted to the future. Therefore, development has high priority in everyday work throughout the organisation, and we have constantly a large number of projects in progress.
All development projects share a common purpose – to optimize the utilization of waste as a resource.
Many projects aim to divert waste from incineration and landfill to recycling, and projects range from issues such as awareness and attitude to more technical approaches associated with diversion of more waste to recycling. Other projects focus on optimizing use of energy from incineration of waste.
We develop new methods for recycling of resources in an increasing number of waste types, and we carry out life-cycle assessment of various treatment options to see which solutions give the best cost-benefit result.
Vestforbrænding also supports and participates in a number of research projects, for example in cooperation with the Technical University of Denmark looking, among other things, at pros and cons in different incineration methods and at how we can optimise transport of waste to the benefit of the environment.
